
The Laws of Instinct
I. There are two Primary Instincts from which all baser Instincts are derived.
A. The First Primary Instinct is the Instinct for Self Preservation.
i. The Instinct for Self Preservation has two forms.
a. To preserve one's existence, one can confront the threat with either a Fight Response or a Flight Response.
B. The Second Primary Instinct is the Instinct for Species Preservation.
i. The Instinct for Species Preservation takes many forms.
a. In Humans, the Instinct for Species Preservation is modified into an Instinct for In-Group Preservation.
b. Sex Drive is one way in which the Instinct for Species Preservation is manifest.
c. Parental Instinct is another way in which the Instinct for Species Preservation is manifest.
C. Normally the Instinct for Self Preservation wins out in a contest between the two Primaries, but not always.
II. Humans are as influenced by Instinct as are all other animals.

III. Humans, unlike other animals, have the ability to override their instincts.
A. This is an ability that we seldom seem to use.
